The Bournemouth International Film Festival (BIFF) is calling for submissions from filmmakers and screenwriters worldwide! Whether you’re an emerging talent or an established creator, BIFF offers an exciting platform to showcase your work to audiences, industry professionals, and fellow creatives.

How to Submit

Step 1: Check the Eligibility Criteria

Before submitting, make sure your film or screenplay meets our requirements:

✅ Films must have been completed after January 1, 2019
✅ Short films must be under 30 minutes / Feature films must be 60+ minutes
✅ Scripts must be a maximum of 15 pages (short film format only)
✅ Non-English language films must have English subtitles
✅ All genres are welcome

Step 2: Select the Right Category

BIFF accepts submissions in a range of feature film, short film, documentary, animation, and screenplay categories. We also have special categories for student filmmakers and a screenwriting competition, where the winning script will be produced into a short film in Dorset.

Step 3: Submit via FilmFreeway

BIFF only accepts submissions through FilmFreeway.

Step 4: The Selection Process

🕵️‍♂️ Judging: Our panel of industry professionals will review all entries based on storytelling, artistic merit, technical execution, and originality.
📅 Notification Date: Entrants will be informed of their submission status by 15th  September 2025.
🏆 If Selected: Your film will be included in the BIFF Official Selection and screened at the festival in September 2025.
📜 For Screenwriters: The winning script will be produced as a short film in Dorset.
